Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 15, 2026
Jigsaw Ember is a browser-based jigsaw puzzle game. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Our guiding principle is simple: collect as little as possible, and never sell it.
Information we collect
What we hold depends on how you use Jigsaw Ember.
- Guest play. You can play without an account. Your in-progress puzzles, settings, and local records are stored only in your browser on this device and are not sent to our servers. Clearing your browser data removes them.
- Account details. If you sign in, we store your email address (to sign in and secure your account) and an optional display name. Your display name may appear on public leaderboards; your email is never shown to other players.
- Gameplay data. For signed-in players we sync your progress, records, achievements, unlocked themes, and saved puzzles so you can continue across devices.
- Analytics & technical data. With your consent, Google Analytics records aggregate usage such as pages viewed, referring site, approximate location, and device or browser type. See Cookies and analytics below.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — for example, which pages and puzzles are popular, where visitors come from, and general device and country information. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes this data on our behalf as a third party.
Analytics is off by default. The first time you visit, we ask for your consent through a banner. Analytics cookies are only set if you choose Accept; if you Decline, no analytics cookies are set and nothing about your visit is sent to Google. You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer. Declining never affects your ability to play. We do not use analytics to identify you personally.
Strictly necessary storage — such as remembering that you are signed in, or your cookie choice itself — is always used, as the game cannot function without it.
How we use your information
- to run the game, save your progress, and sync it across your devices;
- to show public leaderboards using your display name;
- to keep the service secure and prevent cheating or abuse;
- with your consent, to understand and improve how the site is used.
Legal bases
Where data-protection law such as the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract to provide your account and sync your progress; your consent for analytics cookies (which you may withdraw at any time); and our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and functioning.
Sharing and third parties
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. We share data only with the providers that make the game work:
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and storage host for account and gameplay data.
- Google Analytics — aggregate usage measurement, only after you consent.
- our web hosting provider, which serves the site and app.
Our fonts are self-hosted, so loading a page does not, by itself, call out to third-party font services.
International transfers
Our providers may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the providers’ standard contractual clauses.
Data retention
We keep your account and gameplay data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we remove your synced data from our servers. Aggregate analytics data is retained by Google Analytics according to its own retention settings.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and account data is protected by row-level security so that, by default, only you can read or change your own rows.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent for analytics at any time. You can exercise the most common of these directly in the app (see below), or contact us for anything else.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time from Settings in the app; this permanently removes your synced gameplay data from our servers. From the same screen you can also reset the data stored locally on your device.
Children
Jigsaw Ember is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version, and we will note significant changes in the app.
